My Sister

I realize that this is the second Fancy-Nancy-calender-inspired post in a row, but I can't help myself. Tomorrow is Sisters Day (although HolidayInsights.com says that the real Sisters Day was yesterday, since they say it's always the first Sunday in August.  Meh, split the difference.).  Why do they disagree?  I'm thinking that it's because it's a fake holiday...  But it's a great reason to talk about my sister.

My sister has recently become re-obsessed with dollhouses.  She had a beautiful dollhouse when she was about ten years old that she just adored.  I remember my mom taking us to Hobby City to the miniatures store so that my sister could buy new accessories for it with her birthday money.  Tiny magazines and mini rolls of toilet paper, itty-bitty bakeware...  Somewhere along the way, probably when she was getting her second master's degree (smarty-pants), her passion for decorating dollhouses fizzled.  It was re-ignited a few weeks ago when my sister saw that the county fair had a dollhouse category that she could enter next year...

This, of course, has given me the opportunity to become obsessed with dollhouse crochet.  Zoh my goodness, there is some cool dollhouse crochet out there.  Google search dollhouse crochet if you want a big, fat eye-full of awesome.  It was so tiny and cute!!!  Of course, once I'd seen it,  I had to make a granny-square quilt... I've made a pillow for the bed too, but it didn't make it into the picture...

I made a mattress for the cradle since it looked empty and uncomfortable without one.  My sister wanted a blanket that would drape over the side...

We're just warming up...  I can't wait to see where this adventure leads!

xoxo

    1. Hi Nicki! I'm excited you found me too! I am totally new to crochet miniatures, but I'm happy to be learning. Any suggestions of what types of stuff I should be checking out/trying next? Beyond blankets, or maybe rugs, I'm a little stumped...

    1. ♥Piper♥!!! Thank you so much! It was really fun. I used 3 strands of embroidery floss, which was neat to crochet with but a total pain to separate.
