Button Swap! Are you in??!

So some of you who follow the Crochet Dynamite page on Facebook might have seen a post I did last night about adding advertising to my site.  I've been reluctant to do it, honestly, since I didn't want to bombard you lovely Dynamos with ads that are obnoxious and irrelevant.  But it has occurred to me that some of you lovely Dynamos have lovely businesses and you might like a place to promote them!  Especially if that price was so good you couldn't NOT do it!!!

That post promted a very long online chat with my good friend Aunty Teeni, of MadCrochetLab.com, about where this site is going, and what my plans for the future are.  Do you have your 5 year goals written out?  Yeah, me neither.  But I'm going to make a resolution to do it next year...  Anyway, back to my point, after talking with her about my future plans, I'm pretty sure that advertising will make it's way onto my site in the future sometime, but not right now.

Why? Because I thought of something better, of course!!!

For the month of January, let's have a button swap!  Grab my button from the sidebar over there and put it on your site, then come back and tell me about it.  I'll go grab your button and add it to Crochet Dynamite.  Sounds fun, right?!  Free advertising for both of us!  Besides, it's only for a month.  And if we really love it we can keep the button love goin' on and on!

Anyone want in?!

If you don't have a button on your site already, it's really easy to make one yourself!  I used THIS tutorial from Code it Pretty.  It was simple and fast and I was able to make it work, which is 100% better than all of the other tutorials that I tried (and failed at!).

Ideas? Opinions? Anyone done this before?  I'm still learning, so any/ALL feedback you can give me would be amazing.

Okay, I'm off to enjoy my cold and rainy Saturday.  Hope your weather is nicer than mine is, and that a stranger tells you you're pretty today!

xoxo

  1. Oh wow! You totally fooled me! I read the headline and thought you were talking about physical buttons! LOL. Either way, I am up for a swap, even if it is for virtual buttons. But first, I believe I have to go make one for myself. Be back in a bit!

  6. OK sorry to sound dumb, but how do I grab the button, do I copy the HTML code and set up a new gadget? I tried grabbing it with my mouse and that didn't work.

    1. Hi Pam! That was a great question, not a dumb one! Okay, it's pretty easy if you use Blogger (I don't know anything about Wordpress). You highlight the 'code' from the box below and then ctrl+c copy it (or right click to bring a menu up and then click on "copy"). Then you go to your layout, set up a new gadget for HTML, paste the code into the gadget and then save it.
Writing it out makes it sound MUCH harder than it actually is. Hopefully this will make sense to you. If you don't get it after this, though, send me an email at CrochetDynamite@gmail.com and I'll see if I can talk you through it another way, because the error would totally be in my explanation, not in what you're doing. :D

  7. Hi Jaime. I don't have a "site", or I would certainly trade buttons with you. I do want to say "thank you" for posting about the cowls! I think I have old-lady ADHD or something.. I can start looking for something simple like that and the more I look, the more overwhelmed I am; And in the end, I accomplish nothing. So, Thank you. I also wanted to let you know I sent you a "package" this morning, so some day next week it should get there. Inside it you will find a couple cowls, some scarves, a couple backpack buddies for the little one, and an afghan. The afghan was made with the charity daisy squares from Krochet Krystal, but it was made with a mistake, I didn't tack down the petal ends like it was supposed to be. It is still a nice blanket though, and I think you can find someone who would appreciate it for keeping warm this winter. Right? I did fulfill my charity squares to Krochet Krystal, sent her a package last week with 2 blankets and 120 squares (enough for 3 more blankets). I've been busy! Love to you, Happy New Year, let me know that you receive the box.
